About

About MakeTheShirt

We are a small custom apparel company in Charlotte, North Carolina, built around one belief: the reason most group shirts look bad is not taste, it is that designing one is a job nobody at the table has.

Why a prompt box instead of a design editor

Every custom apparel site is built for somebody who already knows what they want to make and how to make it. Drag the text, pick the font, nudge it two pixels, choose from a clip-art library that has not been updated in a decade. That interface assumes design skill, and then it blames you when the result looks like it.

Most people ordering group shirts are not designers. They are the person who said yes in a meeting. They know exactly what the shirt is for and nothing about how to lay it out. Describing is the skill they already have, so we built the product around describing.

What we are careful about

A generated design is not a substitute for judgement. The model will happily produce type too small to read across a park, linework that vanishes on a dark garment, and a layout that looks fine on a screen and wrong on a body. So a person looks at group designs before they print, and says so when something will not work.

We are also careful about what we claim. Production and shipping times are not measured yet, so we do not quote them. Prices are not final, so the pricing page says so in a box at the top rather than showing you a number we might change. Whether you hold copyright in AI-generated artwork is unsettled law, so we describe what you can do with your design rather than asserting rights nobody can confirm.

If a claim is not on this site, it is usually because we have not verified it yet, not because we forgot.

Where we are

Make the Shirt LLC is registered and operated from Charlotte, North Carolina. Printing is done by a commercial garment printer rather than in a garage, which is why the runs match and the files are handled properly.

You can reach a person by email. There is no phone queue, no chatbot pretending to be an agent, and no ticket number.

Questions

Are you a print shop?

We are a design and ordering company. Printing is done by a commercial garment printer we work with, which is how a mixed-size run comes back matching.

Is a human involved at all?

Yes. Generation is automatic; review, group-order help, and every email you send are handled by a person.

How do I get in touch?

Email, at the address in the footer and on the contact page. You will hear back within about one business day.
