Who you are dealing with

This site is operated by Make the Shirt LLC, a limited liability company based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Using the site or placing an order means these terms apply to you.

Your design

You describe a shirt, we generate artwork from that description, and you may use the resulting design on the shirts you order from us. We do not take your design and sell it to somebody else.

Whether artwork produced by an AI system attracts copyright protection, and who would hold it if it did, is unsettled. We are not going to assert that you hold rights that no court has confirmed. What we can say plainly: we will not resell your design, and we will not stop you using it on your own order.

You are responsible for what you ask us to print. If you tell us to put a name, a logo, a phrase, or a likeness on a shirt, you are confirming you are entitled to use it.

What we will not print

Prompts are screened automatically before generation and orders are reviewed before printing. We can decline an order, and if we do we will refund it and tell you why.

• Somebody else's trademark or brand identity when you have no right to use it.
• Content that harasses, threatens, or targets an identifiable person.
• Hateful content directed at people for who they are.
• Sexual content involving minors, in any form, described in any way.
• Anything that is illegal to produce or to send through the mail.

Orders, prices, and payment

Prices shown on this site are not final and are marked as such. A written quote we send you is what we will honor. An order is accepted when we confirm it, not when the checkout page loads, and if something has been mispriced we will tell you before taking payment rather than after.

Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.

Production, delivery, and what we do not promise

We do not promise a delivery date. Production time is ours to manage and we will be honest about it; carrier transit time is outside anyone's control, and no statement on this site should be read as a delivery guarantee.

If you have a hard date, tell us before you order. We would rather turn work away than take money for shirts that will arrive after the event.

Faults, returns, and cancellation

Misprints, damage, and wrong items are handled as described on the shipping and returns page: photograph, email, replacement or refund. Custom-printed garments cannot be returned for a change of mind or a size change once produced, because they cannot be resold. Cancellation before production begins is refunded in full.

The design tool

The design tool is provided as it is. Generation depends on a third-party model and can be slow, unavailable, or simply produce something that misses what you meant. Rate limits and an automated human-verification check protect the tool from abuse and may occasionally ask you to wait or to confirm you are a person.

Attempting to script, scrape, or overload the generation endpoint will get access blocked.

Liability

Our responsibility for any order is limited to what you paid for that order. We are not responsible for consequential losses, which in this business usually means the cost of an event that went ahead without the shirts. This is exactly why we ask for your date up front and tell you honestly whether it is achievable.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina.
